Limited Edition 2024 "Kristmas Krampus" Prints
Something I’ve wanted to do every year: Create a limited edition Christmas piece featuring one of my most popular/well received pieces from that year…and then cut up the original, gifting the original squares to a select few. This year—my first year doing this—I cut the piece up into 20 pieces, and made 20 prints of the original. (“Of the original”, because there is a special 5 count edition that will drop at some point…new Dane puppy guys, and I’m the primary trainer. Just know that I have the prints ready to embellish…)
As I was sketching images in December, knowing that “Heart” was going to be the piece (close call with my creepy mermaid), I was kind of “eh” about a lot of them. And then an image started to form, so intuitive and solid it was almost hard to get it onto paper fast enough. There was no question that that was the piece for the year. I researched reference images—garlands, windows, candles, Kramps, baskets, rams, gorillas (yo, the body is legit modeled after a silverback gorilla)—and worked, and worked, and worked. 20-30 hours of working, diving in, trying feverishly to get it done before the end of the year. I finished it on NYE. Got to sign this baby a legit “2024”.
And I will aim to keep my dream true in continuing this tradition.
Merry fucking Krampus.
